The short stories of GNZ section offers a diverse collection of brief tales. The tales come out of reflections on personal experiences, African folklore, European events and exercises in sheer imagination. The writings on offer cover experiences such as personal histories, love, the supernatural, the magical, moral dilemmas, and humour.
The pieces tell of the experience of a someone born and raised in the United Kingdom with a rich heritage of Nigerian culture. His parents were great storytellers and orators. It is no surprise the the stories of have a strong African bent. Some tales are are simply the retelling of African tales from ancient times and the colonial era. Most of the narration come in the first person singular mode. Only the folklore tales come through the third person perspective.
Further stories are found in the Davy Jones section. Those tales are experiments in split realism which is similar to magical realism. Disbelief is becomes believable and ordinary.
The reasons for writing and publishing the short stories is first to entertain and second to share my imaginative explorations with audience tiny or mighty.
